If you’ve been thinking about trying out a quick weight loss program, you need to know about a few common weight loss mistakes to avoid. While something may sound like a great idea in theory, all too often we end up causing ourselves to hold on to the weight, or worse, gain more.
I want to help you avoid that frustration by sharing with you 5 mistakes that will keep you from losing.
Deadly Diet Sin # 1: Shun Your Morning Meal
Skipping breakfast as a part of your quick weight loss program is just foolishness. You’ll drag through the day, munching on unhealthy items to try to perk up.Your first meal should be your biggest meal and it should provide you with enough fiber and calories to make it through until your next meal.
Deadly Diet Sin #2: Starve Yourself
Anybody is going to lose weight when they don’t eat at all. But are you really willing to pay the price for those few pounds of water weight? You’ll gain it all back once you start eating again plus some.
Fasting shuts the metabolism down, causing you to store fat. The body thinks it’s starving and is trying to protect you. What you are doing when you fast is basically dehydrating yourself; it is dangerous and it doesn’t work.
Eat 4-6 small meals a day and you’ll lose real weight and feel energetic too.
Deadly Diet Sin #3: Forget You are an Omnivore
I respect vegetarians—they have far more discipline than I ever will. However, vegetarians usually know that they must supplement their diets with a source of protein such as tofu or nuts.
You can’t eat like the wee little creatures of the forest and expect to lose significant weight or feel worth a darn. A small serving of chicken, fish, or even lean beef is not going to make you fat. In fact, it will fuel your body for a killer workout, so eat your meat!
Deadly Diet Sin #4: Self-Deprivation
Deadly Diet Sin #5: Be the Over Achiever
Ambition is a great thing, but don’t try to do your weight loss all in one week. First of all, you can’t and second of all, you will end up tired, sore, burnt out, and possibly injured.
Ease into your new routine and make it a habit. The pounds will come of the healthy way: slow and steady.
