Internet users aged 55 and over are twice more likely to choose a
safer password than those under 25 with German and Korean-speakers often
choosing the best.
The study of nearly 70 million Yahoo! passwords by Cambridge University scientist Joseph Bonneau reveals that the strongest and weakest can be correlated to its user’s online activity as well as their demographics.
‘The single most popular password we observed, for example, occurred with probability at least 0.14 per cent in every subpopulation. Some overall popular passwords were very rare in certain subpopulations.’.............
