The Union Budget 2012-13 evoked mixed response from various sections
of the society in the region even as people remained glued to TV sets on
Friday. While the tax proposals in general drew flak from the people,
the focus on infrastructural reforms received support.
Terming the budget as disappointing, president of Ramnagar Industrial Association RK Choudhary minced no words in giving instant reactions while talking to TOI on Friday. Any package or incentive for UP was missing and the budget in general was very disappointing for small-scale and medium industries, particularly in east UP region, he claimed. "The hike in service tax and excise duties is only going to pop up inflation, giving no respite to common man. I was surprised that while Vidarbha got special package of Rs 300 crore and north east also attracting package to the tune of Rs 1,000 cr, there was no package for east UP region, which is considered as one of the most backward regions in the country,"................
