ICANN to Bring in New Web Domain Suffixes Next Year


A new host of web address have been approved by the internet domain regulatory body, which will see domain names end in almost any word, as opposed to the standard .com suffix.

Icann’s new decision has opened a fresh new chapter in the history of web domain suffixes. The decision came after the latter won by a majority vote. Icann, or the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers in its 41st International Convention in Singapore affirmed that the board would soon (from January 12, 2012) begin accepting applications for generic top-level-domains (gTLDs) for a period of 3 months.
