Microsoft have begun sending out press invitations for the launch of its new cloud-based office and productivity suite, Office 365.
The new suite is a fully hosted service that companies can buy into offering online versions of their Word, Excel and Powerpoint apps along with a full copy of Office 2010 for desktop computers. It also offers hosted Exchange email and a Sharepoint intranet-style workspace. In addition to this it offers Lync, the company’s new communications platform that integrates IP telephony, messaging and VOIP.
Microsoft is launching its cloud offering office365 later this month with a splashy event NYC.
