Google Search Now Optimized For Tablets

It’s never been hard to use Google’s search engine from your iPad or Android tablet — but the experience is about to get significantly nicer. Today Google has announced that it’s rolling out a new, touch-friendly version of Google search that makes soLinkme key changes for the tablet form factor.

The new interface refinements align with some of the other changes Google has been making to its products like Gmail and Google+.

The redesign is minimal, but the focus is clearly on making content more accessible for touch-based users. The search button is larger, and content has more white space..........

Scientist Designs Nanosized Batteries to power mobiles

WASHINGTON: An Indian-origin scientist-led team in the US has packagedlithium ion batteries into asingle nanowire, which they claim could soon be a rechargeable power source for new generations ofnanoelectronics.

Prof Pulickel Ajayan and colleagues at Rice University claim their creation is as small as such devices can possibly get, in their research published in American Chemical Society journal ‘Nano Letters’.

In their research, the scientists tested two versions of their battery.
The paper describes two models of battery/supercapacitor hybrid being tested by scientists. The first system comprises polyaniline cathode layers, polyethylene oxide (PEO) electrolyte and nickel/tin anode. The system would allow lithium ions to..................

Trojan asteroid circling the sun in the Earth’s orbit

NASA’s Wide—field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission has discovered a long—hidden companion of the Earth — the first Trojan asteroid circling the sun in the Earth’s orbit.

In 1772 the French mathematician and astronomer Joseph-Louis Lagrange predicted the existence and location of two groups of small bodies located near a pair of gravitationally stable points along Jupiter’s orbit. The term originally referred to the Trojan asteroids orbiting around Jupiter’s Lagrangian points and asteroids at the Lagrangian points of other planets may be called Lagrangian asteroids. Subsequently objects have been found orbiting the Lagrangian points of Neptune, Mars, and Earth.

The world’s most advanced humanoid robots

A robot is a mechanical intelligent agent which can perform tasks on its own, or with guidance. In practice a robot is usually an electro-mechanical machine which is guided by computer and electronic programming. Robots can be autonomous or semi-autonomous and come in those two basic types: those which are used for research into human-like systems, such as ASIMO and TOPIO, as well as those into more defined and specific roles, such as Nano robots and Swarm robots; and helper robots which are used to make or move things or perform menial or dangerous tasks, such as Industrial robots or mobile or servicing robots. Another common characteristic is that, by its............

Your friends make the switch to gmail

Apparently, Google recently launched a funny — and obviously not too serious campaign to promote Gmail, the so-called “Email Intervention,” which is an easier (and funnier) way to convince non-Gmail users to switch to the search engine giant’s free e-mail service.

There is anything but love between Google and Microsoft. This is reflected in the potshots these digital juggernauts take at each other from time to time. Last month, we reported how Google took a dig at Office

Three signs Google+ is here to stay

Sometimes it seems like the population of the Internet has broken down into two camps: Those who think Google+ is the social networking equivalent of the Second Coming, and those who insist on fence-sitting, waiting to see how the fledgling Google+ deals with its first wave of crises before they jump over from Facebook.
The state of “business” on Google+ remains up in the air. In fact, after G+ launched just for individuals, Christian Oestlien, the Ads Leads for the Google+ Project, posted a video asking businesses to stop creating company pages for the .......

Google+ seeing a traffic slump

It has been almost a month since Google+ launched, and in such a short amount of time they already managed to sign up more than ten million users and twenty million visitors. Now the problem for them is not getting users to sign up, but maintaining loyalty. Earlier this week, Google+ saw a major decrease in their user base. Their numbers dropped from 1.89 million users in the previous week, to 1.79 million this week. CNET reports that the slump in traffic has been a good 10 percent and is decreasing week by week.

Google+ started with a bang as a worthy Facebook competitor, triggering questions of shifting loyalties. PCWorld reports that Google+ was the 42nd most visited social networking site in the United States last month, though at first entry to their site was on an ‘invite only’ basis.

Scientists step closer to creating test tube intelligence

Supercomputers, robots and the human brain represent the artifacts of a long evolutionary chain stretching back to a soupy mass of molecules floating in Earth’s oceans billions of years ago. Now researchers have gone back to the primordial ooze by creating a new type of artificial intelligence based on DNA inside of test tubes.

The resulting artificial neural network is based on an oversimplified model of how brain cells work, but uses DNA instead of the usual silicon chips. It showed that biochemical molecules such as DNA can replicate the pattern-recognition abilities...........

Google is taking over the web. Get on board, or go the way of Myspace.

Google’s latest experiment, Google+, promises to be the next big thing in terms of social networks.
